Crane lift notice to residents: free template

A mobile crane closes a street for half a day. Tell people early and they will park somewhere else.

A mobile crane lifting roof trusses onto a house with the street coned off

Quick answer: A crane lift notice tells residents the date and time of the lift, which road or lane is closed, where parking is restricted, the safety zone around the crane and who to call. Deliver it to everyone on the affected street, timed to the notice period in your road occupancy or council permit.

When to send it

Send it once the lift date and any road occupancy permit are confirmed. Lifting roof trusses, a pool shell, air conditioning plant or a kit home often means closing a lane or a side of the street.

Residents mostly need to know two things: when they cannot drive out, and where they cannot walk.

Tips that save complaints later

  • Say how residents get out in a hurry. It is the first question everyone asks.
  • Include the permit number. It stops calls to council.
  • Deliver to the whole street, not just the neighbours. The closure affects everyone driving past.
